This was the best hostel experience we ever had! My husband and I are from Canada and are backpacking in Japan for 2.5 weeks. Kanazawa was our second stop and it was amazing because of LINNAS. Look no further in your search…just book now! Excellent location, we walked everywhere. So close to the Omicho Market, Kenroken Gardens and Kanazawa Castle. Less than 30 mins walk to the Ninja Weapons Museum. We went to highlight Mika on staff. She went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay ever. She gave delicious local restaurant recommendations and even suggested a chopsticks making workshop in town. She called and reserved us a spot. She was very friendly and hospitable. We are so lucky to have stayed at LINNAS and recommend it to everyone! The rooms are all private, ours had a fridge. The room had good storage for us. We loved the keypad system so we didn’t have to carry a key around. The bathrooms and showers are communal and very clean! The shared kitchen is well-equipped and clean. Umbrellas are freely available which helped when there was a forecast of rain, even though it didn’t rain enough for an umbrella. We are now in a new city in Japan in a new hostel and already have a list of reasons why it’s not as good as LINNAS! Seriously it felt like home to us and we miss it already. 5+ stars and thank you Mika, you and the team are amazing!

1. It was very well designed. There was a ledge on the wall all along the side of the bed, so even though the room was fairly small, we were able to sit and use the ledge as a table. Still, we had to put our luggage underneath the bed so that it wouldn't obstruct walking around the room. 2. The common toilets were close by, and there was no problem getting to the shower or sink. 3. At the train station, there is a very helpful and large tourist information office that you can ask where to board the bus to come to the hotel. You can walk from the station to the hotel, but taking the bus is better. 4. The common kitchen was very spacious and well-equipped. You can buy your food and eat in the kitchen. 5. There was a coin operated washing machine (Y200) and dryer (Y100) in good working condition. 6. The hotel is very new and everything was in tip-top working condition.

We stayed for 7 days and could stay more, because it was very pleasant and Kanazawa has so much to offer that we ended up with a to do list for next time! The staff were super friendly, there's a friendly atmosphere. The common area has a very well equipped kitchen and it's a pleasant place to have your meals and chat with people. We usually got bento boxes at the basement floor of the nearby mall or sushi at the market and ate them in the common area. The location is a huge advantage, because local buses in Kanazawa are slow and crowded, so it's important to have many things at a waking distance. The shared toilet and shower were clean and convenient, they almost didn't feel shared.

Excellent value for the money! I got the room with a private bathroom and found it to be a good size for one person. More narrow than a standard hotel room, but the loft bed creates a lot of floor space. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. The tablet at the front desk gives you the option to check in and out on your own, but I had some difficulty with it and the staff were there to step in and help, which I appreciated. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the train station, but very walkable for all the major attractions in Kanazawa. The amenities in the shared kitchen looked good, though I didn't personally make much use of them.

The staff was extremely friendly. They also allowed to leave our luggages with them before checking in and they even took it to our room which was a nice surprise. We really like the vibe of this place and our room. It was really a 'hygge' style. Also, during our stay, at night, Kanazawa was hit with an earthquake (first time during our trip to Japan). It was a little bit scary to be woken up in those conditions, but shortly after the staff announced through the speaker in the room that everything is fine and the building is completly safe to stay in it and they will keep us updated.
